Bulking Up and Cutting Fat
June 20, 2008
If you are using my 29 week muscle-building program and have committed to bulking up and ‘overshooting’ your goal ripped look then you might be suffering a dilemma right now.
Should you keep bulking up or cutting fat?
I know summer is here and bulking comes with some extra weight gain that can make you look flabby at the beach - and nobody cares that you’re in a ‘bulking phase’ when they check you out!
You probably would look ‘perfect’ with an extra 5-7 pounds of clean, dry muscle around your upper clavicle, arms and butt, but you might not be prepared to go through the summer with only a two-pack or four-pack - summer time is all about the six-pack baby!
At least it is for me
If you’re debating between cutting fat and commencing back into your bulking up phase when the winter gets closer then this is for you.
I know what it’s like to be in both phases so consider some of these points from my personal experience - ultimately the final decision is all yours.
1) Do you have the will power and commitment to cut your calories, especially your sugars, with all the summer festivities just around the corner? Leaning down is all about DIET DIET DIET.
2) Do you have the time to get in at least 5-7 cardio sessions each week which should last 30-75 minutes each depending if you are doing long/slow cardio or interval cardio? Don’t fool yourself - getting lean is going to take MORE energy expenditure.
3) Don’t worry about your weight training program - as long as you’re lifting HARD and CONSISTENTLY then you’ll maintain your muscle. Keep this the same.
4) If you’re between 13-18% body fat then realize you’re sitting in ‘no man’s land.’ You might look big with a shirt on but when you hit the basketball courts for a shirts and skins game you’re not going to have any cuts or lines - and that’s what gets the attention.
5) If you’re ultra skinny and clearly need to gain 10-30 pounds of rock hard muscle then forget fat loss and get that word out of your head and don’t even look at my Your Six Pack Quest website being released next Tuesday June 24th. That’s not for you.
You need to keep hammering the calories and weights and pack on some pure beef and then we can talk fat loss in a few months from now.
If you’re in that ‘no man’s land’ and have been bulking up, applaud yourself, but it might be time to melt that pot belly off and take a look at what’s underneath that rock hard muscle you’ve been building.
You’ll actually look MORE MUSCULAR when you get closer to 10% body fat and (females around 15%) and more sculpted and ripped so ‘my final answer’ (unless you’re ultra skinny) is to focus on CUTTING FAT for the summer.
That’s personally what I do. This summer I’m heading off to Italy, Spain, Vancouver, Las Vegas and Los Angles and I don’t plan on posting pictures on Face Book with a pot belly!
Once September and October rolls around, I’ll set some new bulking goals. Right now - it’s all about the six-pack!
Let your lady friends know that, for the majority, they should focus on cutting too -especially for the summer. Lots of energy expenditure, lots of water, keep the calories and sugars nice and low and hit those weights at least 3-4 x a week.
Have a great weekend,
Vince DelMonte
P.S. Think about me on Sunday afternoon as Italy plays Spain - I’ll be downtown Toronto in Little Italy getting ready to fly the flag after their victory ![]()
FAME 2008 Pictures
June 17, 2008
As I write this to you my body is attempting to digest a large cheese burger, a large fries, 2 large garlic cheese breads, 3 pints of Heineken beer and a chocolate chip ice cream cake.
That was my post contest “cheat meal” but I m trying to convince myself it was a “treat meal.”
Here are some pictures of myself from the past weekends competition. I competed in Muscle Model (bodybuilding looking physiques with 4-6% fat), Fitness Model (Men’s Health cover look) and a Swimsuit category which I’m still not totally sure of the “look” I was judged on.

There was 25-30 guys in each category and they only announced the top 3 of each category. I did not place in Muscle Model or Fitness Model but earned 3rd spot in Swimsuit. I honestly was not too concerned with my overall placing because the judging is so subjective (and IMO very biased but that’s another story for another day)…
Not bad for 6-8 weeks of DIALED IN training and eating but I know I would have done way better if I had given myself an extra 6 weeks to drop into sub 5% body fat.
Over the 3 days I had a camera crew follow me around and I recorded over twenty different “video coaching lessons” that will teach you how to create a jaw dropping mid section and confidence that will become contagious to everyone around you.

Have you ever had a chance to listen to an Oxygen Cover Model? I just got off the phone with Jennifer Nicole Lee and am completely convinced that ANY women can look like a fitness model (even if they don’t want to be one).
Whether you’ve slaved hours in the gym without nothing to show; spent hundreds or thousands of dollars on pills and gimmicks; failed over and over; have the lowest motivation in the world or just unsure of how to maximize your little time in the day - Jennifer’s personal success story is truly inspirational.
Click here to listen to the Jennifer Nicole Lee interview
Here’s what you’ll learn;
1. What are the top 3 obstacles a female faces in developing her best physique?
2. How to deal with the “motivation” factor so that you don’t become another yo yo trainer.
3. Three training tips Jennifer uses to train smarter and not harder (her training volume will really surprise you).
4. Jen’s life changing mindset to throw the excuse, “I don’t have time…” completely out the window.
5. What Jennifer would say to you if said, “I eat healthy but can’t lose weight..”
6. Jen’s philosophy on supplements and the ONE you MUST have.
And much, much more!
I also made a “mouth watering offer” to anyone who gets Jen’s Female Fitness Model Program. by Saturday
June 14th at Midnight EST.
On the call, I’ll explain why I’m doing this but here is the limited time offer:
1. Get my complete No Nonsense Body Shaping Program for females as a bonus gift ($97 value if ordered from my site)
2. A private “closed door” call with every lady who wants to use Jen’s program, myself and of course Jennifer who will be answering your PERSONAL questions. I will un mute the lines and we’ll have a free for all and you get your top fitness, nutrition, supplement and beauty questions answered.
This call will be Monday June 16th at 2:30 pm EST for customers of her program ONLY (if you purchase it and can’t make the call then I’ll send you the replay).
That’s how much I believe in the http://www.FemaleFitnessModelProgram.com

Male Fitness Model Pics - 4 Days Out
June 9, 2008
With 4 days out, I’m feeling very tight but still full. My calories could be lower but I don’t want to lose any size. Three more workouts with 25-50 grams of carbs a day till Wednesday night and then I’ll start carb loading Thursday AM and I’ll cut my water on Friday at noon to really dry up - I can’t wait to hit the stage Friday night.
Here are a few pictures I took this afternoon after my 3rd last cardio workout and a tan:

Bicep Tricep Arm Workout
June 7, 2008
So, this Friday night, I’ll be up on stage competing against many of the world’s top male fitness models and muscle models!
Lots of those guys you see on the cover of Fitnss Rx, Men’s Health, Muscle Fitness, Reps and Maximum Fitness will be on stage with me…
… I can’t wait to share the pictures and stories in a upcoming blog with you.
Just for you, I’ll be milking this show for all it’s worth and will have a video team and camera team compacting loads of footage to inspire and motivate you to take your physique to the next level.
Check this out… I’ll probably go around and interview top bodybuilders, fitness models, muscle models,
figure athletes (males and females, young and old) to compare their training techniques and systems with mine.
With (almost 3 hours of training a day), I’m spending quite a bit of time at my computer relaxing and lots of time in my kitchen preparing food and washing dishes and thought I would take a quick break and mess around with Ryan Lee’s http://www.UltimateVirtualTrainer.com that allows you to make your own workouts.
Here is “arm and core” workout I through together:
Combo #1 -
Alternating DB Bicep Curls 5 sets of 6-8 reps
Close Grip Stability Ball Push Ups 5 sets of 6-8 reps
Chopper Sit Ups 4 sets of 15-25 reps
Combo #2
Concentration Curl On Ball 5 sets of 8-10 reps
1 Arm Overhead DB Tri Extension On Ball 5 sets of 8-10 reps
Ab Rollouts With Ball 4 15-25p
Combo #3
1 Arm Preacher Curls 4 sets of 10-12 reps
1 Arm Reverse Grip Pressdowns 4 sets of 10-12 reps
Alternating DB Plank Pull Ins 3 sets of 15-25 reps
Combo #4
1 Arm Incline Hammer Curls 3 sets of 12-15 reps
Overhead Tricep Rope Extension 3 sets of 12-15 reps
Standing Cable Rotational Crunches 3 sets of 12-15 reps
I’ll teach you all of the workouts I used to get ready for this competition on June 24-26 in my new fat loss and ab program.
But for now, you can make your own workouts at http://www.UltimateVirtualTrainer.com
One of my secrets for getting ready for this show in a VERY short period of time is “keeping the program alive” and not being a “slave” to the program details.
You’ll notice that this workout looks A LOT different than my muscle building course and I’ll explain my “6 pack system’ in the future.p
For now, grab yourself the basic or higher level membership that Ryan is offering until tonight at midnight which is the same cost as a 5 pound tub of protein powder.

4 Minute Fat Loss Solution
June 3, 2008
First off, thanks a lot for all the feedback and support on my pre contest pictures below.
I wish I was leaner (that’s what happens when you procrastinate) but I am doing a “swim suit” show on June 29th and should be sub 5% by then which should be pretty cool!
A lot of you have asked, “How did I lean down SO fast?”
A couple of things:
1) I DECIDED it was worth it.
2) I went HARDCORE.
3) I FOLLOWED a plan without broken focus.
Getting lean DOES comes down to being HARDCORE. Being hardcore is a state of mind and is not something you can buy, wear, or inject. Getting lean comes down to having the mental strength, drive and will to do whatever it takes (within legal reason, of course) to get the job done.
There is SO much information and SO many programs on the net and I will continue to do my best to provide you with as much information as possible (the good, bad and ugly) and let you decide what you will do with it.
For example, you have probably heard about Ryan Lee’s http://www.UltimateVirtualTrainer.com by now, which people are describing as the “4 minute fat loss solution.”
As you know, I think it’s possible to build muscle in minutes a day but I can’t say the same thing for fat loss - especially after what I’ve put myself through the past 6 weeks.
I do have to admit, a http://www.UltimateVirtualTrainer.com is a pretty cool robot that even a caveman could figure out how to use and allows you to:
- Design your own workouts
- Pick your own exercises
- Choose your own music
- Create intense 4 minute circuits
And much, much more.
Like I said, I’ll be revealing my entire 6 Pack In 6 Months, fat loss system during the week of June 23rd but Ryan is giving away some great fat loss info that you can get right now.
If you’re crunched for time, you can set up a workout in less than 60 seconds using Ryan’s software and like I said yesterday, it’s a great little resource to accompany my muscle building book because he demonstrates all the “bread and butter” exercises with proper technique - instead of watching my 3D animated pictures that are not perfect.
Get all the details at http://www.UltimateVirtualTrainer.com and you’ll find some cool videos showing you how this tool can help you get ready for summer.
Train like you mean it,
Vince DelMonte

I started around 210 pounds and over 16% fat and I’m around 201 pounds today and no idea of my body fat (I think 8-9% now). I’m using the mirror strictly for my monitoring.
I’ll be competing in 3 categories:
1) Muscle Model - smaller than a bodybuilder physique but bigger than a male fitness model
2) Male Fitness Model - Men’s Health cover look
3) Bikini Model - no idea what the look is for this category but I’m guessing it’s a combination of your overall look favoring lean versus bulk.
Feel free to leave your comments and offer any tips or advice (feel free to be brutally honest… I can take it
)on my physique.
On June 23rd, I’ll be revealing the entire Six Pack System I used to train, diet, supplement and live and how you can get your own 6 pack in 6 months too!

P.S. Join my Faceebook Fan Group and get to know all my friends and fellow trainees.
